Flute sounds to fall in love with

The 14 Berlin Flautists
Klaus Wallendorf · Moderator

Works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Friedrich II., Edvard Grieg, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Siegfried Matthus, Georges Bizet, Leonard Bernstein

The 14 Berlin Flautists, founded in 1996 by Andreas Blau, former solo flutist with Berlin Philharmonic, are one of the most unusual ensembles in the world of classical music. They combine the entire sound spectrum of the enormously varied family of flutes, from piccolo and alto flutes to the big double bass and sub-contrabass varieties. For this purpose, Andreas Blau gathered not only every single Berlin Philharmonic flutist but brought in colleagues from Staatskapelle Berlin, the German Symphony Orchestra (DSO), the orchestras of the Deutsche Oper and the Komische Oper Berlin and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (RSB). Their repertoire comprises arrangements of well-known works from the serious as well as the entertaining corners of music and unfolds an unmistakable and surprising sound.
