Almost everyone knows Loriot, or Bernhard-Viktor “Vicco” Christoph-Carl von Bülow, as was his real name, from his cinema appearances and famous TV sketches. But he also took on human flaws in classical music with a humorous mixture of fondness and mockery, worked as a music conductor, staged Wagner’s operas Martha and Der Freischütz and proved an ingenious explainer of Richard Wagner’s complex musical dramas. Choriner Musiksommer celebrates his 100th anniversary with a wide selection of his opera and concert hits.
