Ludwig van Beethoven · Seven Variations on the English Folk Tune “God Save the King”, WoO 78 (orchestral arrangement by Samuel Adler)
Ferdinand Ries · Symphony no. 2 in C minor op. 80

When Ludwig van Beethoven first performed his 1st symphony on 2 April 1800, he not only left a mark on the musical scene but also emancipated himself from his temporary teacher Joseph Haydn as an independent symphonic composer. Fourteen years later, Ferdinand Ries paid respect to his teacher Ludwig van Beethoven through his 2nd symphony, which he dedicated to him. And in 2016, the composer and music teacher Samuel Adler took on the challenging task to orchestrate Beethoven’s variations on “God Save the King”.
