Brass ensemble of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin
Jakob Lehmann · conductor
Paul Dukas ∙ Fanfare from the ballet “La Peri“; Franz Schubert ∙ Eight german Dances; Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy ∙ Songs Without Words; Claude Debussy ∙ Children‘s Corner & Preludes Pour Piano; Andrew Lloyd Webber ∙ Cats Suite; Thomas Jahn ∙ Let’s Dance; George Gershwin ∙ Summertime and other pieces
The finale of the Choriner Musiksommer involves four trumpets and trombones each plus a tuba and a French horn from the brass section of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. The players, although supported by percussionists, will need powerful lungs and strong lips to deliver their dance-laden excursion through Europe and Northern America. Their programme comprises brass adaptations of piano and orchestra pieces, which haven’t lost any of their original intentions in the process. Pleasure is guaranteed, be it from the enjoyable rhythms of Debussy’s Golliwogg’s Cake-Walk, Gershwin’s moody Summertime lullaby or Lloyd Webber’s Cats suite, which, by the way, has nothing of caterwauling about it.
