Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto is widely considered the epitome of the genre. Clarinet and orchestra fuse together in intimate dialogue, and the solo part gives room for the qualities of the instrument in unparalleled accomplishment. We surround this piece with a panorama of musical landscapes: Orawa, an energetic outburst of string sounds, named after a river in the Tatra Mountains. Mendelssohn’s 3rd symphony, inspired by a journey through the Scottish Highlands and held together by the mood the composer associated with this landscape, which is present in all movements. And amidst these works, there will be a premiere: Choriner Serenade by the composer Torsten Harder from Neustrelitz.
