Fifteen years ago, some orchestra musicians of the Deutsche Oper Berlin decided to break fresh ground by adding a collection of swinging and funky jazz standards to their reverently performed classical repertoire. To find the right sound and unleash the joy of playing, they have now teamed up with Manfred Honetschläger, a jazz trombonist, composer and arranger. Joined by international stars of the scene, the band continues to inspire audiences by their inventive, powerful and virtuoso team playing. For this year's Chorin performance, they have chosen to take us on a trip across Europe, which will, hopefully, provide the right associations with the cities we all have in mind.
