From the Kreuzchor boys’ songbooks
Dresdner Kreuzchor
Kreuzkanor Martin Lehmann • conductor
When it comes to the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the first association most people have is the irrestistible magic of bright and clear boys’ voices. The choir is the oldest cultural institution in Dresden and tightly connected with its cultural life. It also represents this to the outside world. Even after 800 years, on of the boys’ most important tasks is to accompany services at the Kreuzkirche on Altmarkt square. The choir also shapes the concert landscape of Dresden with its broad repertoire ranging from Schütz and Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Brahms, Schumann and Weber to the music of our time and comprising both spiritual and secular works. As a sideline, the choir boys often take part in performances at the Semperoper opera hall. They are ambassadors of a unique musical tradition, which they spread in their performances in Germany and tours around the world.
