Mystical sounds • medieval music in modern attire
Ensemble nu:n have immersed themselves in the music and thoughts of medieval personalities like Hildegard von Bingen or Meister Eckhart, but their goal is not to try a literal rendition of early music. Rather, they want to give a fresh and contemporary shape to this remote musical realm. From medieval music and lyrics, Cora Schmeiser’s voice and Gert Anklam’s powerful saxophone create a dense fabric of improvisation encircled by Falk Zenker’s ethereal guitar sounds – a perfect fit for the architecture and atmosphere of the Chorin monastery church. In this performance, the ensemble are accompanied by Daniel Hoffmann on the trumpet and flugelhorn.
