Richard Wagner (1813-1883) • excerpts from “Der Fliegende Holländer”, “Tannhäuser”, “Tristan und Isolde” and “Lohengrin” plus many more
To cherish the works of Richard Wagner has always been a priority of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Wagner’s music is, so to say, hard-coded into the DNA of the orchestra, into its tonal character and repertoire. The 2024-25 season alone features five operas by Wagner: Der Fliegende Holländer, Tannhäuser, Lohengrin, Tristan und Isolde and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Their spectacular performances of the Ring des Nibelungen cycle have been talked about time and again. In line with the orchestra’s special Wagner tradition, many of its members also play in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra. They will bring this experience to Chorin to gift us with a whole afternoon comprised of the most beautiful passages from various Wagner operas. Also appearing are members of the top-class soloists’ ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
